SAFEGUARDING POLICY
Safeguarding
At TJ Freestyle Academy, we take pride in being a supportive and inclusive community. While we are committed to developing strong freestyle skiing skills, we are equally focused on teaching our athletes to support one another, show respect to their peers and coaches, and embrace the challenges that come with progressing in sport. Encouragement, teamwork, and positive attitudes are at the heart of our ethos.
We create training sessions and athlete development camps that meet the needs of each individual, ensuring they can learn and progress in an environment that suits them.
Our camps and coaching programmes are designed to provide targeted development, appropriate challenge, and a safe, positive experience for all athletes.
Our coaches and houseparent’s dedicate their time, experience, and expertise to helping every athlete grow in confidence, skill, and enjoyment of the sport.
Statement of Care
TJ Freestyle Academy recognises that all children, young people, and adults at risk have the following fundamental rights:
-
to be valued as an individual
-
to be treated with dignity and respect
-
to be cared for appropriately as a young person
-
to be kept safe
-
TJ Freestyle Academy will always strive to provide training and camp environments where every member feels safe, valued, cared for, and treated with respect.
We are committed to fulfilling our duty of care and work to ensure that every young person is protected from harm or abuse.

What Welfare Officers Do:
"At TJ Freestyle Academy, I am fully committed to safeguarding the welfare of all children, young people, and adults at risk who train with the academy.
My role as the Welfare Officer is to oversee the safeguarding and wellbeing of all our members and to be a point of contact for anyone who has a concern. When the children are away with us, I am the houseparent, ensuring their welfare and supporting them throughout the trip. I am always available to discuss any concerns you may have.
Anyone who wishes to raise a concern may do so knowing it will be dealt with sensitively, confidentially, discreetly, and with complete honesty of purpose."
